Overview:

Engineered Ventilation Solutions provide nationwide assessments to all types of LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) plant inline with HSG258 irrespective of age, condition or original supplier.

Our experienced LEV examiners hold a BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) P601 Proficiency Certificate in Initial and Through Examination of Local Exhaust Ventilation Systems.  We can therefore guarantee our inspection and certification service meets the requirements of HSE standards, ensuring full compliance with current Health and Safety Legislation.

Our on-site inspection service includes a qualitative and quantitative assessment of each LEV system to HSG258, Method Statement, Risk Assessment, all measurements which are compiled within an electronically prepared LEV Certificate in compliance of CoSHH Regulation 8, 9 & 12, 2002 (as amended), inclusive of LEV system schematic diagram and photographs for ease of reference.

An Employer's Legal Requirements

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (CoSHH) 2002 (as amended)3 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR)4.

HSG258 Section 10: Thorough Examination And Test details the frequency and the specific requirements of LEV examination and testing. The frequency of LEV testing should be once in every 14 months (certain types of LEV system require greater frequency).

The LEV examination and test comprises three stages: -

  • Thorough visual and structural examination
  • Measurement and recording of technical performance
  • Assessment of controlling effectiveness

LEV Certificates/Records must be retained for a period of 5 years

What should I do if my LEV System(s) do not gain compliance with CoSHH Regulations?
