Does your business premises have a water system?
The Approved Code of Practice L8 'Legionnaires' Disease - The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems' requires that formal risk assessments are completed on all water systems.
Planning and management systems should be robust enough to ensure that water systems are maintained in a satisfactory condition and minimise the risk of Legionnaires Disease.
All Legionella Risk Assessments should be completed by a person who can actively demonstrate competency.
Our Legionella Risk Assessment comprises of:
-
Determination of risk to health from Legionella bacteria, this is based on the findings during the site assessment
-
Recommendations to implement measures to prevent or adequately control this risk
-
Schematic of both the hot and cold water systems
-
Determination of cold water supply
-
Visual inspection of cold water storage cistern (if appropriate)
-
Determination of hot water supply
-
Inspection of hot water storage (if appropriate)
-
Completion of temperature checks at all outlets
-
Identification of means of creating and dispersing breathable droplets
The assessments should be reviewed regularly, at least every 2 years, and when changes to the system are made or the assessment is believed to be no longer valid.
